PARTHENOGENESIS
The truth we try to discover / create / express through words is a truth that transcends words because it precedes words. In inspired poetry, words are used as a (partial) solution to the problem of words.
I can hardly talk about words without turning into a cut-rate Ezekiel or William Blake – men who glimpsed behind the words and the Holy Ghost that dwelleth within. Every time I start to get a glimpse, I start THINKING and poof. It’s gone. It retreats in the presence of the dissection knife.
The perversion of language by the Sophists, making the weaker argument the stronger, the “art” of persuasion – which according to Socrates is no art at all – a Jaynesian reading of this: the use and abuse of language, trying to persuade each other = trying to deceive each other. Language is a signaling system turned into ... what? On the one hand – deception. On the other – art.
The only justification for life is art.
