VI. A Childhood Nightmare –
We had wall-to-wall carpeting
then. And a vacuum cleaner.
The kind with the cylinder.
Mom was vacuuming the carpet.
Then – the horror. My little sister
is sucked into the vacuum.
Mom is unaware. I try to tell her,
but she vacuums on. I panic.
My sister is gone!
